"Bringing Out the Best in Kids"

Affiliated with Optimist International, the Optimist Club of Watchung was established in 1965. The club grew to a peak membership of 125. Although membership has declined in recent years, with19 current members, the club has continued to serve the youth of the Watchung community.

Sadly, this will be our last year in Watchung. After 47 years, we have come to the conclusion that we are no longer a viable organization. Some of our members will be joining other Optimist Clubs, and hope to be able to serve Watchung youth through these clubs.

Who We Are

We are one of over 3500 Optimists Clubs throughout the world. We are dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" in our local community and the surrounding area, as well as kids everywhere. Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. Club members are best known in their communities for their upbeat attitudes. By believing in young people and empowering them to be the best they can, Optimist volunteers continually make this world a better place to live. Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects each year, serving six million young people. Optimists also spend $78 million on their communities annually
